This one of a kind Harris Tweed red tartan uses specially blended yarns that are hand woven by highly skilled weavers in the outer Hebrides of Scotland. Fabric is examined and certified by an Independent Harris Tweed authority before being woven into this amazing collection of collars, coats and blankets.
Genuine Harris Tweed is often described as the champagne of fabrics —it's the only fabric in the world governed by its own Act of Parliament— and is considered one of the most authentic and natural fibers. Its rich color is achieved through the use of vegetable dyes. The end result is a ruggedly good looking product that will last a lifetime.
Every length of cloth is stamped with the official Orb symbol, trademarked by the Harris Tweed Association in 1909. This unique fabric is still woven by hand on the island. It is created from hardy breeds of Scottish sheep, which makes the cloth extremely soft, hard wearing and very warm. Fabric is still woven today in the homes of the weavers.
Everything in this line is an original design, hand-cut and pinned, then individually stitched and hand-finished in London.
